National Afforestation Campaign
Fundraising Campaign
The National Afforestation Campaigns are carried out from January through May, with afforestation awareness programs, fundraising events for the Greenery Donation Funds and various PR activities jointly. Those aim to enhance interest in the national afforestation drive among the people at large and to appeal for their participation in the “Afforestation by Public Partnership” movement.
Many people participate in afforestation events and come in touch with trees and forests firsthand. Those events are held all over the country from southern regions to northern districts accompanying development of new green leaves in spring.
Greenery Day and Greenery Month
May 4 is Greenery Day, a Japanese public holiday, when people are expected to enjoy activities in nature and give thanks for the blessings of nature while enriching their minds with those experiences.
April 15 to May 14 is also designated as Greenery Month and various events focusing on greenery and forests are held throughout Japan. In Tokyo, the Green Thanksgiving Ceremony is attended by a member of the Imperial Family of Japan.

Commendation for Distinguished Service in Afforestation
The National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization holds a wide range of competitions relating to afforestation promotion to recognize outstanding cases publicly and commends persons for their distinguished service over many years in afforestation.
